Students nowadays are very eager to pursue higher education from abroad. There are plenty of reasons to consider higher studies abroad. Quality education, better facilities provided to the students, good placements after completion of the degree are some of the top reasons why students aim to go abroad.

As the days are passing by everyone is thinking this way and everyone wants to go in that direction. Well, now that this path is in the spotlight, it is getting tough day by day.

To get into a university abroad a student should fulfill certain criteria set by the university. This includes:

  • A good GPA
  • Excellent CV
  • Extracurricular
  • Extraordinary statement of purpose
  • Letter of recommendations
  • English language certification: IELTS/TOEFL
  • GRE test scores

Maintaining a good GPA throughout the undergraduate or post-graduation degree is a piece of cake for a focused student. Along with good grades, the student should also be involved in extracurricular activities. This reflects on the student’s CV and shows how good are the student’s skills apart from just studies.

A statement of purpose or SOP is an essay that a student writes to convey their aim and process of working and studying, their inspirations, and much more. Many of the times students get their offer letter based on their extraordinary SOP.

Professors from the earlier universities can write a student’s recommendation to help them get admission to their chosen university. As they know the student’s performance and have evaluated their work at some point their recommendation is crucial to consider a student’s application.

Apart from that, competitive exams are to be given by the student to fulfill the conditions of foreign universities.

Some of the exams are language exams such as IELTS or TOEFL, which test the student’s vocabulary and understanding of the English language. GRE is considered the toughest of them all. Students admitted that had to take GRE diagnostic test before the main exam to elevate their confidence because it is that difficult.

GRE general test comprises of 3 sections:

  1. The analytical writing: It consists of two sections, where 30 minutes are given for each section.
  2. The verbal reasoning: Similarly this section consists of 2 sections, but there 35 minutes are given for each section.
  3. The quantitative reasoning: In this one, 40 minutes are given to attempt two sections.

A GRE diagnostic test helps students to get an idea of how they’ll perform in the main final exam. These tests have the same structure of questions as in the main exam but the questions are a bit easier. This can give an upper hand to the student when it comes to time management.

A student can get nervous in the main exam if the criteria aren’t known to him. So, it is always better to sit in the exact atmosphere of the main exam and take the test to reduce the chances of failing in the main exam. It is very easy to book a GRE diagnostic test online these days on the internet. Just a simple search and you are done.
