How to Fix an Apple Watch Not Importing Contacts

An Apple Watch is the most stylish smartwatch that you can have around your wrist. You can also find online collections of leather watch bands for Apple Watch. You can also pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone. You don’t need to get your iPhone out of your pocket to attend calls. Sometimes, the watch does not sync contact information to the message app. When you check your iPhone, you see contact information. You can also see all messages. On the other hand, the watch does not show names. It shows phone numbers only.

This happens when the watch does not import Contacts. You can also interact with contacts using your Apple Watch. You can use the watch to reply to a message or make a call. This can be an occasional problem. You may not be able to understand the reason. The watch imports some contacts and some it does not.

Your watch has most of the contacts. However, some of the contacts from your iPhone are not transferred to the watch. If you are experiencing this problem, you can fix it easily.

Reboot your Apple Watch and iPhone

Rebooting your Apple Watch and iPhone is the simplest and easiest way to fix this problem. Restart your Apple Watch by pressing and holding the side button. You will get the Power Off option. Slide to power off the device and start it again.

Add Country Code

Add the country code to each phone number. Take the following steps:

  • Unlock the paired iPhone and launch the Contacts app.
  • Select a contact.
  • Edit
  • Add the country code
  • Done   

Check Connections

Sometimes your iPhone and watch are not properly connected. After swiping up on the watch face, if  you see a green phone icon, both devices are connected properly. Make sure that airplane mode is off and Bluetooth or WiFi on the phone is on.

Delete Missing Contacts 

When you import contacts in bulk from another source to your iPhone, you may see some weird contacts. Delete these contacts and see if the problem is fixed or not. Take the following steps to delete these contacts:

  • Launch Contacts app on your iPhone
  • Select the Problem or Missing contact
  • Edit
  • Delete Contact  

Check iCloud

You may experience this problem between Apple Watches, iPads and iPhones. If you use multiple iDevices, use iCloud to sync contact to all iDevices. Take the following steps:

  • Settings
  • Apple ID Profile
  • Toggle Contacts on  

Pictures of Contacts Disappear

Take the following steps:

  • Go to iCloud website and log in.
  • Check if contacts are synced to iCloud or not. In case they don’t, launch the Settings app on your iPhone, go to iCloud, turn off contacts and in the end, delete contacts from iPhone
  • Now power off and then turn on both devices.
  • Go to iCloud
  • Toggle contacts on.

Re-Sync

Take the following steps:

  • Launch the Watch app on your iPhone.
  • My Watch
  • General
  • Reset
  • Reset Sync Data    

This will erase your watch’s content. Data from your iPhone will be synced again. This is likely to fix the problem.

Re-pair

Take the following steps to unpair the watch:

  • Bring the Watch and iPhone within range.
  • Launch Watch App
  • My Watch
  • Open My Watch on top
  • i
  • Unpair Apple Watch
  • Confirm
  • Enter Apple ID
  • Enter Password 
  • Pair again
  • Sync again

Restore settings and check if the problem is fixed or not. 

You don’t need your iPhone to unpair your watch. Take the following steps:

  • Settings
  • General
  • Reset
  • Erase All Content and Settings

In case only a few contacts are missing, you can fix this problem by editing each contact. If there are too many contacts, you have to try other fixes.
