Inspiration for Where to Take a Date This Spring

Inspiration for Where to Take a Date This Spring

With the worst of the coronavirus pandemic thankfully behind us, the coming spring is one especially full of hope; the first season ‘back to normal’, and for many the first season in which love can well and truly bloom. Even with lockdowns and restrictions on gathering changing the dating game for a large number of people, there are Romeos and Juliets out there waiting for an opportunity to spend a proper day together. This spring could well bring that day – but what are your seasonal options for a loved-up day together?

A City Day in Spring

With spring come longer, lighter and warmer days – making the prospect of an all-day date much more appealing than in the wet and miserable days of autumn and winter. In spring, towns and cities attain a new sort of life, and can feel entirely different for it. There are hundreds of activities on your doorstep that you might not have given the first thought before – but with a full day to spend with your other half, these activities can constitute something of the perfect spring day.

You could start with a stroll in your local park, before heading to a light lunch of small plates at a restaurant you’ve never tried before. You could book the two of you in for a wine tasting at an independent venue. You could rent bikes and see your city from an entirely different perspective. You could book an outside table at a fancy restaurant and fully lean in to the romance of the day, before cutting a rug on the dancefloor until the sun comes up again… The possibilities are endless on your doorstep alone!

A Taste of the Seaside

However, spring also brings with it the possibility of a trip to somewhere entirely befitting of a dedicated date: the seaside. With the temperature warming up just that little more, a trip to the beach makes for a fantastic date location with versatile options – and all the more fun if turned into an overnight stay.

You could pack a picnic and blankets, and watch the waves together for an afternoon. You could seek out a restaurant well-known for its locally sourced food, and spend the evening sharing delicious food as well as each other’s company. You could seek out the arcades for a day of games and thrill-seeking, and to top it off you could dare each other to go for a splash!

Further Afield

Of course, why stop with your nearest seaside? Variety is the spice of life, and with people well and truly out of winter hibernation, other places in the UK will also have sprung to life. You could take a train to Stratford for a weekend of exploring its East London’s rich cultural offerings, from the Olympic Park to the fantastic food options on the edge of Hackney Wick. You could head up to Manchester to explore its vibrant Northern Quarter, or across the Pennines to Leeds for a candle-lit dinner by its newly regenerated dock.
