
Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) is an entrance test for getting admission in the law courses of the Symbiosis International University (SIU. SLAT 2021 will be conducted by the SIU for the law courses of four of its law schools.
The date of the exam declared is June 27th, 2021. This article deals with various important information related to SLAT 2021 such as exam dates, eligibility criteria, syllabus, preparation tips for the exam and, a subject-wise preparation strategy for SLAT 2021 in 6 weeks.
SLAT 2021 Syllabus
The SLAT is conducted online consisting of 75 multiple-choice questions of one mark each and there is no negative marking. This is followed by a Written Ability Test of 30 minutes. The syllabus of SLAT question papers is discussed below:

SLAT PREPARATION STRATEGY- LOGICAL REASONING
This section aims at testing the candidate’s analytical and interpersonal skills. The difficulty level of the questions in this section is medium but solving them takes a lot of time. The only way to be able to excel in this section is a regular practice. The candidates need to practice this section a lot before going for the exam. They can refer to Objective Logical Reasoning by S. Chand for this section.
The questions related to puzzles and seating arrangement are twisted and to solve these questions, the candidates need to rephrase the question in simple words. This makes such questions easier to solve. Questions related to syllogisms can be answered easily by making a graph or table to simplify the question.
SLAT PREPARATION STRATEGY- LEGAL REASONING
This section in the SLAT question papers is divided into three parts, Legal Facts, Legal G.K, and Principal Facts. The candidates need to have a good understanding of the general laws to be able to answer the questions from the different areas. One of the best books for the preparation of Legal Reasoning is Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning by A P Bhardwaj.
For Legal G.K, the candidates need to read the newspapers regularly and focus on learning various legal phrases and maxims. For Legal Facts, the candidates need to memorize the important articles of the Constitution, the fundamental rights, landmark judgments, etc. They should make a list of all these topics so that it becomes easy for them to learn and revise from the list.
For questions related to Principal Facts, the candidates should remember that the principal is the basis to answer the question and the option which is closely related to the principal will be the answer. The candidates should avoid using their judgmentsfor the answer.
SLAT PREPARATION STRATEGY- ANALYTICAL REASONING
This section is one of the easiest and highest-scoring sections. The candidates can refer to Analytical Reasoning by M K Pandey for a better understanding of this section.
The candidates need to revise and learn all the important formulae taught up to Class 10. They also need to practice this section a lot to improve their speed and accuracy. For practice questions, the candidates can refer to the previous year SLAT question papers and mock test papers available online on various educational websites.
SLAT PREPARATION STRATEGY- READING COMPREHENSION
The candidates need to sharpen their reading skills for this section. They should read newspapers daily to increasing their reading speed which will help them in reading and understanding the question easily and in less time. One of the best books for this section is Quick Learning Objective General English by RS Aggarwal.
While answering the questions of reading comprehension, the candidates need to read the passage attentively and then answer the questions with close reference to the passage itself. The candidates need to understand the theme of the passage while answering it.
SLAT PREPARATION STRATEGY- GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
This section takes the least time as there is no computation is involved in it. The questions in this section cover a very vast area of knowledge which makes it very difficult to complete the whole syllabus.
For this section, the candidates should read newspapers regularly and refer to magazines like Chronicle and Competition Success Review and an important book for General Knowledge is Lucent’s Objective GK 2021.They should also solve SLAT question papers of previous years to understand the types of questions that are asked.
