New York: Americans spend an average of 35 hours per month watching TV. The Big Apple consumes an astounding 70% of all cable subscriptions in the U.S.
Texas: Texans love sports. They spend an average of 49 hours per month watching sports. If that doesn’t tell you how much football is a part of Texas culture, nothing will.
Kentucky: Basketball is the most popular sport among Kentuckians. The state is home to six NCAA Final Four teams and takes the national championship title six times per decade.
Mississippi: Elvis, big government, Michael Jackson, and football are all included in the list of the most popular media pastimes in Mississippi. The Magnolia State spends 39 hours per month watching television.
Alabama: Alabama citizens eat a lot of barbecues and snort a lot of hooches. The fun-loving state spends an average of 31 hours per month watching TV.
Arkansas: The Natural State loves country music. It’s the biggest music market in the country. For 37 hours per month, Arkansans watch some type of music television.
Louisiana: Louisiana spends 32 hours a month watching TV, the second-highest amount of TV watching in the country.
Oklahoma: It’s hard to find anything to watch in Oklahoma other than pigskin and gospel music. Residents spend an average of 29 hours a month watching TV.
Georgia: Food, food, food in Georgia. The Peach State is the top producer of corn and squash and enjoys 9.3 hours of meal watching each month.
Hawaii: Spam, Hawaii Five-O, Yall-all, LOL! Hawaii consumes an average of 21 hours a month watching television.
Idaho: Idahoans are considered “rural” and often watch a lot of “cowboys” and “Indians.” The state consumes about 16 hours a month of TV watching.
Arizona: Arizona is known for its Grand Canyon, and spending a lot of time there would qualify. The home of the saguaro spends an average of 22 hours a month watching television.
Colorado: Colorado is a great place to ski. Residents spend an average of 14 hours per month watching television.
Connecticut: Television is all the rage in Connecticut. The state is home to “Smash” and the TV show “The Hunger Games.” People in the state spend an average of 11 hours per month watching TV.
Delaware: If you want to work with your hands, don’t move to Delaware. The state is known as the “Cutting Board Capital of the World,” and it spends an average of 10 hours a month watching television.
District of Columbia: The District of Columbia isn’t part of a state, but the seat of the government sure is. The nation’s capital sits astride a very special place on the globe: it’s home to the most television viewers in the nation.
Virginia: What’s that? Washington, D.C.? You’re from Washington? Where’s it at? The more, the merrier in Virginia. For every hour of TV watched by the commonwealth’s residents, an extra hour is broadcast across the nation.
North Carolina: Baseball. Raleigh loves its Mudbugs. The Tar Heels spend an average of 13 hours a month watching TV.
South Carolina: The Palmetto State’s residents enjoy more sunshine, mountain air, and sweet tea than the rest of the nation. They spend an average of 12 hours per month watching TV.
South Dakota: The Sunshine State lives up to its name. South Dakota residents consume an average of 12 hours a month of TV watching.
Tennessee: Music City plays host to two baseball teams. The third-largest TV market in the nation also hosts the Titans, the Predators, and the Grizzlies.
Texas: Texas loves its mules, tacos, guns, and football. The Lone Star State spends an average of 11 hours per month of TV watching.
