GMAT: What it stands for?

GMAT is a computer-based online test where the student appears for test in comprehension skills, reasoning, analytical, verbal and quantitative. The application fee is $250for appearing in GMAT. The exam duration is210 minutes divided among the sections on which the student is to be tested. The total 210 minutes includes the timing to understand the instruction of the test and the in-between breaks.

How can one prepare for GMAT?

  1. Prepare a booklist of the books that are required to prepare for individual section for the exam.

  3. Consistency in preparation is the key to your success in the GMAT exam. The longer hours you can put the more successful you can be in this exam.
  4. The section on quantitative analysis is designed to test one’s math skills. The same can be sharpened be regular and rigorous practice every single day. This section consists of 31 questions and 62 minutes are given for the same. Since only basic mathematical topics are included in the section with practice the section can be solved.
  5. For the preparation of the verbal section close reading of the passages and critical thinking are important. This part is also scoring as with practice and good English skills it is easily solvable. There are 36 questions in this section and 65 minutes are given to solve.
  6. Analytical writing is the trickiest section in the GMAT paper. The method of scoring is different from the other sections and instead of 200-800 score, a score with range 1-6 is attached to the scores.  The section is designed to check your critical thinking ability and your ability in analyzing an argument.  Half an hour is given to complete the section.
  7. The section on integrated reasoning altogether consists of 12 questions. This section has a time limit of 30 minutes to solve. In the section, your ability to assess and interpret multiple sources data, charts, tables and graphs are analyzed. You need to practice problems of this sort to analyze the same in 30 minutes.

GMAT is a prestigious exam to take if you want to opt for an MBA program in a top business school. The exam takes a holistic approach to check a student’s ability to understand management problems. With proper practice and preparation, the exam may be cracked.
